At Bloomington ISD, we are dedicated to providing every student with a safe and supportive learning environment. In accordance with Supreme Court rulings, all students—regardless of immigration status—have the legal right to a public education. As part of our standard procedures, Bloomington ISD does not collect or track any information related to a student’s immigration status.

We understand that recent discussions surrounding federal enforcement policies may create uncertainty for some families. One key change has been the removal of the “sensitive location” designation, which previously limited immigration enforcement actions at schools, hospitals, and places of worship. Given these changes, we want to reassure our community and clarify our district’s protocols.

Bloomington ISD does not play a role in immigration law enforcement. However, if any law enforcement agency, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), were to visit a district campus, they would be required to follow proper procedures. This includes checking in at the front office, presenting identification, and providing legally required documentation before any action takes place on school grounds.

As part of our commitment to safety, district and campus leaders are trained to follow established legal procedures while ensuring that our schools remain secure and that learning continues with minimal disruption. Our staff is prepared to handle such situations professionally, respecting students’ rights and maintaining a positive educational environment.

To help us communicate quickly and effectively in any situation, we encourage all parents and guardians to ensure their emergency contact information is current. If updates are needed, please contact your child’s campus as soon as possible.

Bloomington ISD remains committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive school community where all students feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.
